Happy New Year!

Happy Friday, everyone!

It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone! Teachers and staff would like to extend a huge thank you for all the special notes and gifts over the holiday season.

A few reminders for the upcoming weeks.

-Both centers will be closed on Monday, 1/15.

-Mountain site will be hosting a Parents’ Night Out on Friday, 1/19, from 6-10:30pm. Mountain kiddos do not need to be picked up; childcare will just continue through the evening. Dinner will be provided; please pack PJs!

And because we’re all busy and life can turn into one big drop off and pick up, here is a bit about our lesson plan through mid-Feb:

Young children are naturally attracted to works of art. Teachers will incorporate art into the preschool classroom to teach about artists over the centuries. Children will learn about the artists, Pablo Picasso, Mondrian, Monet, Van Gogh, Diego Rivera, Dr. Seuss, and Eric Carle. Children will learn their techniques of art and try to create their own! Letters of the week Uppercase E, Ww.

Cooling things down in January/ beginning of February, we will have a unit on Weather. Children will observe the weather changes and make predictions about what the weather will be in the next days ahead. Children will learn the water cycle and do various weather inspired activities. Rainbow in a jar, make weather Vanes, and wind socks name a few. Letters of the week Jj and Pp.

February (the shortest month) will be a very busy month. Some celebrations and topics this month Marti Gras, Groundhog day, Super Bowl, Valentine’s day, President’s day and Black history Month (Parents; if you would like to participate in any of these units, please let me know.)

February, we will talk about LOVE in the unit, Feelings and Emotions. Children will learn to put names to the emotions they are feeling. They will share about their experiences and do various activites to practice naming their emotions. We often only think of teaching common emotions like happy, sad, mad, etc. But there are many other feeling words that children should learn to express, such as Brave, Bored, Confused, Surprised, Curious, Proud, Disappointed, Frustrated, Embarrassed, Shy, and Lonely. (to name a few).Letters of the week uppercase Yy, Q.

And of course, some pics to start your weekend. Have a great one!
